Book Review: What Do I Know About My God?

During Missions Conference a few months ago, I was speaking with the wife of one of our conference guests, and she recommended this book to me. She spoke very highly of the book and of its author, Mardi Collier.

I didn’t remember having heard of the book before, but I recognized the cover once the copy I ordered arrived in the mail, so I must have seen it before somewhere.

It’s taken me months to get around to reading it, even though I have been interested to find out if it lived up to the recommendation. But after finally reading it last week, I have to say that it did.

What Do I Know About My God is essentially the author’s testimony of how an ongoing Bible study has changed her life and deepened her walk with God. Basically, she reads through the Bible looking for anything God says about Himself, copying the verses down into a notebook by category as she goes. It’s a great way to dig in to studying the Bible as you read, and it gives a focus to what could otherwise end up being just another item to check off a list.

—Oh, and Mrs. Collier recommends starting in Psalms, if you’re interested.

This book isn’t just a “how-to” manual for her specific method of Bible study. It is also full of truths about God and Scripture verses in which those truths are found. Mrs. Collier also gives personal testimonies of how learning about God has helped her think and react Biblically to different situations in her life.

Whether or not you may be looking for a new Bible Study method, this book is an encouraging read, and is full of Scriptural truths and testimonies of God at work in the lives of His people.

This book is suitable for even the newest Christian, and contains stories of God helping Mrs. Collier grow in several different seasons of life and spiritual maturity.

You can find it several places, but I recommend looking it up here, at THE WILDS online store.
